Environmental Inventiveness

In every walk with Nature one receives far more than he seeks and it’s no wonder they represent life, growth, existence and peace. They also give us hope, insight and perseverance and the courage to preserve the greener planet is in our hands, and the time is NOW.

Mass Plantation Drive

The enthusiasm and freshness experienced with the pilot project and Time to Grow has lead us to take a serious initiative of Mass Plantation Drive. In the pursuit of global environmental sustainability, Ooruni Foundation takes pride and joy to associate with Max Life Insurance Co. Ltd., and initiated the Mass Tree Plantation drive.

Apart from this Ooruni is also involved with forest preservation and cleaning projects. Ooruni volunteers joined hands with State Forest Department for the removal of plastics from Nanmangalam Reserve Forest area and Nature walk event was organized on 18th June 2017. . Many kids also involved in this activity and they had a nature walk inside the reserve forest area.

Ooruni volunteers involved themselves in the mammoth task of clearing almost 12,000  uprooted trees, when Chennai was affected by the cyclone Vardah in December 2016 by joining hands with various volunteers groups.

Once of the notable support was given to “Chennai Emergency Volunteers group” for replanting a banyan tree (more than 100 years old) at Independence Day park, Chennai.

When Chennai witnessed one of the big people movements in many decades “Jallikattu Movement”, Ooruni Volunteers were involved in assisting the people with traffic clearance and clearance of garbage in the Marina beach, which went on for days together.

More than 100 trees were planted by the volunteers along with the participants at the premises of National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (NIEPMD), Muttukadu, Chennai during Independence Day and Freedom Carnival celebration on14th August 2017.

On 26th March 2018, as part of our #TimeToGrow Campaign, we reached out to 1500 interested students of the Chennai Middle School at Trustpuram. This is an initiative by myHarvest to encourage  children to learn the joy of growing and we partnered with them for this project. 

On 29th March 2018, as part of our #TimeToGrow Campaign, as our second attempt, we reached out to interested students and distributed 3000 seed boxes at Middle School,  Medavakkam.

This Plantation drive taken shape to commemorate the World Environment Day, at Government Boy’s Higher Secondary School,  Nandhivaram, Guduvanchery, Chennai on 8th of June 2019.

Followed by this we had Mass Plantation Drive at the following places and so far we planted around 3700 saplings across different districts of Tamil Nadu.

At Government College of Technology, Coimbatore on 17th of August 2019.

At Thirumalai Engineering College, Kanchipuram on 14th of September, 2019.

At Coimbatore Institute of Technology, Coimbatore on 21st of September, 2019.
